Types of Laminating Film

Posted by Admin

Laminating film is used in paper and packaging industries for a variety of purposes. The material provides a protective barrier and helps maintain the appearance of the product. There are many different types of laminating films and each one is suitable for a certain application.

In addition to protecting the product, the lamination can also help prevent water damage, wrinkles and creases. This is especially helpful for ID cards and menus. It can also be used to add a glossy or matte finish to a document.

A number of different materials can be used for laminating, including nylon, polyester and polypropylene. Nylon is the most common. It is considered to be expensive and is best for single-sided laminators.

Polyester is sometimes used as a base for laminating. This film can be used for both single-sided and two-sided lamination.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is another common material used for laminating. This material is often recycled, depending on what it is attached to. PET is commonly used for food containers, clothing fibers, and plastic containers.

Another popular material for lamination is Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP). This type of material is used for bursting separations. BOPP is soft and is therefore best for single-sided applications. Stretching the BOPP is recommended to improve the clarity and strength.

When choosing a laminate, thickness is a crucial factor. Depending on the application, you may need a thicker or thinner film. You should consider the thickness of the document, as well as its width and length. Using a thicker film makes it more rigid and able to stand up to a variety of conditions.
